Kaladin is an epic fantasy, cinematic-style book soundtrack inspired by Brandon Sanderson's bestselling novel, The Way of Kings. Blending gritty styles that are heavily influenced by the epic music of Two Steps From Hell and Steve Jablonski (Transformers) with piercing beauty influenced by James Horner (Avatar) and Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings), the album tells a tale of a harsh world where storms ravage the earth, spirits assist humanity, and hope, beauty, and honor exist as delicate wisps on the wind.
The album connects with the imaginations of fans in an exciting way. It enhances the listener's experience of the story without getting in the way of their imagination, enabling them to picture their favorite moments in vivid detail. It's been a few months - I hope you are all well.
All Rewards Shipped
So, we actually finished shipping rewards a few months ago (shortly after our last update). I had thought I had sent out an update with that status, but here it is: you should have your rewards or be close to getting them by now! (Except for maybe Australia - I know there have been some shipping issues there.)
If there is anything that you are missing or do not have tracking information for, pleaseemailme at michael @ theblackpiper . com (or you can message me through Kickstarter). I'd like to make sure all of your rewards are taken care of.
We have learned a lot from the Kaladin campaign, and you have been there with us for all of it. Your support has allowed us to obtain valuable experience that we are applying forward to our next project: TheBlack Prism: Album 1 based on the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks.
If you loved the music from Kaladin, we'll be working with much of the same musical team on TheBlackPrism. And as with Kaladin, you won't need to have read the story to love what we'll be doing!
In addition to music inspired by TheBlackPrism, we'll have a number of other goodies - including additional Black Piper music and a(potential) special rewardthat we are in the process of designing that authors in particular will be interested in. (I can't say much more than that yet, but I hope you'll join us for the launch!)

Happy 2022. I hope you had a great holiday season.
THE BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED
Well, I have some great news for you: after an epic wait - the day has finally come! The art books have not only arrived in the USA and have cleared customs (finally!), but they have just now arrived in the warehouse! I have personally inspected them, and they look beautiful. The whole team - from the artists to the editor - all did an amazing job. I hope that the artistry in these pages, together with the music, will transport you to Roshar, and allow you to connect with The Way of Kings in an evocative and emotional way, as it has me.
I can't wait to get these out to you all!
Schedule
This is a large set of books to ship out, and staff is short, but we have a good process, and we will be working day and night to put these gemhearts in the mail. I can't say when each order will ship, so you may get yours next week, or it may be a few weeks from that (or a little more, if yours is an international - non-USA - order).
So, keep an eye out on the post. I believe the software will send you tracking information. (If it doesn't, I apologize up front.) But you are always welcome to message me individually to find out. (I love talking with you all.)
I will keep you all informed of any hiccups, and I will also make sure to post once it's all done!

Hi all,
I hope you are all well. I want to give you a quick update on the art books.
The Books Have Been Printed
That's right! The printer has finished printing the art books! Huzzah!
The books have been picked up by the freighter and are awaiting departure from the port in China. The vessel is expected to sail on November 13.
It'll be a few weeks from that point until they arrive at the US port. From there to the Black Piper warehouse, however, we don't have an estimate on the delivery, but I will keep you updated as I receive more information.
Dragonsteel Mini-Con
Many of you may have already heard the news, but Dragonsteel has invited The Black Piper to participate as a vendor at the upcoming Dragonsteel Mini-Con. We're super excited about the opportunity, and have been preparing for it like crazy.
Art Book Sales @ The Dragonsteel Mini-Con
In addition, I want to give you a heads-up. Dragonsteel has offered to allow us to sell copies of the art book + album (bundle) at the convention. The version that we will be selling at the convention will be 10% smaller than the edition that Kickstarter art book backers will be receiving. It will also be softcover and not numbered.
So, for those who ordered a Kickstarter edition, if you're in the area and want to stop by the convention, you can check out how the printed artwork looks!
And for those who weren't able to get a copy through the Kickstarter, this may be your (only/last) chance to pick up a copy of the art book! (We do not have permission to sell the book except through the convention.)

KALADIN Art Book Update

I hope you are well!
What We Have Been Doing
Since the last update, we have been hard at work preparing the art book pages for printing. A lot of this process was new for us (and especially me) - taking digital files (which, as you've seen, Petar did an amazing job putting together) and turning them into a print-ready format.
There was some back-and-forth with a patient printer, who helped us figure out exactly what we we needed.

Once the files were prepared, we ordered a test print of the book in order to check the text, the colors/darkness, etc. Using the copy that we had received, we made adjustments to lightness and sharpness of the images.

So, with all of that done, at long last, I am happy to report that everything is now in the hands of the printer!
With their current workload, they are estimating that the print time may be around 2 to 3 weeks, after which, our freighter will transport all 700 books to us in the United States (from China).
What To Expect
To keep you aware, there have been considerable slow-downs in the freighting pipeline across the world, especially for freighting coming from China. So, at this time, I do not have a good estimate of when the books should arrive with me, but as soon as they do, I will make sure that you are informed, and I will begin the process of sending them out to you!
